DUE TO THE RECENT TRAGIC EVENTS IN HAITI, HOAP IS IN URGENT NEED OF YOUR SUPPORT. OUR TEAM IS IN THE PROCESS OF WORKING OUT LOGISTICS; AS ALWAYS, OUR MEMBERS WILL DELIVER YOUR DONATIONS IN PERSON TO HELP THOSE AFFECTED BY THE EARTHQUAKE. ANY AMOUNT IS MUCH APPRECIATED. Our updates: *Our organization member and friend "Roro" who lives in Port-au-Prince is still missing. Our attempts to get in contact with him have failed thus far. (1/16/2010; 3:16 EST) *Petit-Goave school we support, and where all of our summer camps take place, ccollapsed; four teachers, including the Prinicial and our friend, Mrs. Josianne Merantier were killed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them and their families. (1/16/2010; 5:19 EST) *We have just been informed that "Roro" is alive. (1/19/2010; 8:32 EST)

Petit-Goave, Tu n'es pas oubliée! The mission of HOAP is to support Haitian children in need by providing them with food, clothing, and education. Many families in Haiti are unable to afford school, and those who can, are often forced to send their youngsters to school on an empty stomach. Schools are often the only place that will provide the children with a meal. However, the majority of public schools are overcrowded, leaving many children without education, and a meal. HOAP grants private school scholarships for children of the most underprivileged families in the community. The program includes tuition, a minimum of one meal per day, a school uniform, and books. The organization also assists with the ongoing sanitation efforts in Petit-Goave, which includes clean drinking water and garbage disposal. In addition, HOAP provides basic medical necessities, and supports an annual medical fair. Each year, HOAP works hard to deliver all donations in person in order to assure a safe arrival and distribution. The organization’s members travel to Haiti on a regular basis in order to make distributions, and assess further needs. All of the administrative work is done from the board member’s homes. This helps our group to keep our administrative costs low, and allows us to apply nearly all of the monetary donations directly toward the cause.
